It was a glorious day for Zira and Scar. The sun was out, but it wasn't too bright, tonight they were having cape buffalo for dinner, Mufasa was dead so Scar was now king.

But the thing that brightened their lives most, their newborn son, Asani. The baby boy was walking around in circles in front of his parents, though his eyes weren't open yet he was stile quite mobile.

Zira was grinning at him. Finally! She had a child, a beloved son, she adored him and everything he did. "Who's mommy's little prince?" She asked. "Who's going to be our king on day? You are! Yes you are!" She cheered.

Scar held a blank expression. He watched the new born play. Ne noticed something... the color of his tail tuft and the tiny bit of mane tuft he had... Were lighter then the rest of his body... It was strange, even in lions like his father and brother, though they had light manes, they were still darker then their body color...

"Scar, lighten up. We have a son, you should be happy." Zira scolded. The words made Scar think, lighter mane or not, his son was still walking before his eyes were even opened, he was strong, the way he moved his feet, we was checking to make sure nothing would trip him after the one time a pebble had. He was also smart and a faster leaner.

Scar cracked his typical devilish grin. "I'm my love I am thrilled." He said, pulling Asani close to his chest and hugging him tightly, causing the newborn to squeak and mew.

Asani was puttering around the cave when Sarabi peeked her head in the den. "Scar. Zira. The other cubs would like to meet your son." She said.

Zira smirked to her old friend. "Oh dear Sarabi bring them in." she said. As much as Scar disliked the other cubs... And zira did as well, Zira wanted to flaunt her baby, she finally was able to have the child she had longed for.

Sarabi led the cubs in, Nala was first to go right up to him. "He's tiny. What's his name?" She asked.

"Asani." Zira said. Her grin still there.

Malka wandered up to Asani. "Hey little guy, I'm Malka! I'll be like your big brother, since ya don't have a real one." He said, rasping his tongue over Asani's face, causing the little cub to loose his balance.

"Caraful you brat!" Scar snapped at Malka, causing him to jump back, along with Nala who was still by his side.

"Scar! He was just trying to be friendly!" Sarabi defending.

"You should treat you king with more respect, Sarabi! You have no right to scold him." Zira said. "He was just trying to protect his child, a lesson you should have learned!" She insulted.

Sarabi gasped, she expected the retort of not disrespecting Scar, but that last part? That was cruel, even for Zira, especially being her and Sarabi had been friends...

"Hey! She was just trying to stick up for Malka!" Nala growled.

"Yeah! No need to be so mean!" Malka said.

"Out! All of you! Out of my den, first you upset my son, then my, now me? How dare you? I am your queen!"

Sarabi sighed. "Come children." She said, leaving the den.

Tama looked back to glare at Zira, then looked forward. "Sarabi will always be queen in our hearts." She said. The other cubs nodded.

The statement warmed Sarabi's heart enough to help force away the tears brimming her eyes. She may no longer have her own son, but she had these cubs, whom mean to world to her.
